Vintage Kitchen Table

Often, vintage kitchen appliances have only a few basic styles and makes, but a vintage kitchen table is one of the most stylistically versatile pieces of décor that you can find for your kitchen.  Even a very old table can be purchased and used regularly in your home.  There are a variety of different materials, finishes, and styles – some are more durable than others.  There are also two main considerations when shopping for a vintage kitchen table: the color and the size.

Vintage kitchen tables are remarkable pieces of work – they retain a beautiful design and form while bearing some of the marks of age.  There are Georgian, Regency, and Victorian styles from the 1800s.  Victorian pine scrub top tables are particularly good tables: both lovely and useful, they have well withstood the test of time.  An authentic table from these periods should be bought in an auction room.

The style of a vintage table is dictated by the material it is made from.  Each different wood has a different color and feel; different tables are made out of such varied woods as fruitwood, ash, pine, and walnut.  Some later tables have metal parts either holding the table together, or as a stylistic feature.  Particularly well-crafted tables sometimes have an enamel porcelain top to highlight the craftsmanship.

When you are shopping for your own vintage table, you will want to take into account the color and the size, and how these elements will add to the décor of your kitchen.  Some colors may be white, light tone, or even black with darker nuances, and each of these will have a different feel in your kitchen, depending on the existing furnishings.  A round table is good for a roomy kitchen, while a rectangular table will fit better in a smaller kitchen.  However, given the immense variety of vintage kitchen tables there are, you should have no problem finding the perfect table for your kitchen.
